Moving Crack Repair on a Flat Surface

Repair of moving cracks smaller than 1/4" in width

Step 1: After cleaning the surface, apply a coat of #8 Primer to the surface of the concrete using an ordinary paint brush and allow to tack up (30-45 min.).
Step 2: After the #8 primer has tacked up, apply one coat of Thiocaulk H-705 to the concrete surface and in the crack, if large enough. Do not mix up too much Thiocaulk H-705 at one time (only about 1 quart at a time); this material will set up quickly.
Step 3: While the first coat of Thiocaulk H-705 is still wet, work in the fiberglass cloth with the roller until the Epo-Line 161 has soaked through the cloth, overlapping the cloth at all splices. It is strongly suggested that you have the fiberglass cloth cut to follow the crack in advance. It is important to work in the fiberglass cloth before the Thiocaulk H-705 "sets up".
Step 4: After about 30 minutes (at 75 degrees Fahrenheit minimum), apply the second coat of Thiocaulk H-705 on top of the first coat and fiberglass. Final cure is expected in approximately 36-48 hours at 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Approximate Cost: $4.50 - $5.50 per foot. (6 inch wide coating strip)

Repair of moving cracks larger than 1/4" in width

Step 1: After cleaning the surface and crack, insert the foam backer rod in the crack. Insert on 1/4 - 1/2 inch; this will serve as a filler allow the Thiocaulk H-705 to expand and contract with ease, without pulling off the concrete.
Step 2: Apply a coat of #8 Primer in the crack and on part of the concrete surface using an ordinary paint brush and allow to tack up (30-45 min.).
Step 3: After the #8 primer has tacked up, pour the Thiocaulk H-705 into the crack. Do not mix up too much Thiocaulk H-705 at one time (only about 1 quart at a time); this material will set up quickly. (Because Thiocaulk H-705 is a 2 part product, it is not packaged in caulking type tubes.)
Step 4: Final cure is expected in approximately 36-48 hours at 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Approximate Cost: $0.18-$0.20 per foot. (1/2" x 1/4" not including backer rod)
